Thanksgiving went off without a hitch! Almost. I managed to fix the entire meal (turkey, dressing, pumpkin pies, mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, broccoli casserole, creamed corn, gingerbread trifle) from scratch with everything turning out well. Then, in typical Brittany style, burned the super easy store bought rolls that you heat up in the oven. Everyone was called in to a lovely Thanksgiving dinner by the sound of the smoke detector. My family has always been quite small, so it's been nice to have the addition of wonderful in-laws to celebrate with. The more the merrier! We had a great time with wine flowing and the faint sound of gunfire from Call of Duty in the living room.
Yesterday, I enjoyed catching up with my two best friends from elementary school, Ashley and Sarah. We had a three hour lunch, as it takes a while to discuss what's happened over 15 years. After that, Dustin and I watched the Vols beat Kentucky in overtime with Ashley and her husband at Bailey's. We had such a great time and wish they lived closer so we could see them more often. Although, it would be fun to visit Tampa.
It's been a great Thanksgiving weekend, now to put up the Christmas tree and relax a little...

Woohoo!
My first blog! I'm way too excited about this.
After spending the ENTIRE weekend with Dustin (it was wonderful!), I'm starting to plan for Thanksgiving. Not only will it be my first as a wife, but it's the first Thanksgiving that Dustin has had off since we've been together. See why I want it to be as close to perfect as possible? Martha Stewart, I am not. So... I've been sorting out menu ideas and getting to know my new double oven. I've got all my recipes ready - turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, and Granny's pumpkin pie!
You're invited to eat at our house at 11:30 am and Dustin, I promise I will try to be on time.
